Amy's Miniature Journey

Romag Davl, Thief

Another Reaper miniature - because I really do have so many.

I decided to go with the brilliant red cloak (the mark of an assassin perhaps? it helps hide the blood?) because I wanted something different, and a challenge.  Originally he had a rust -colored cloak similar to Elanter the Lost Prince (above), but I decided to just be different.  Ran into some troubles cutting this guy from his base: I forgot how brittle Bones Black can be and he lost part of his boot, which I poorly sculpted with green stuff - thankfully it's hidden.

Used some model railroad bricks for a poorly constructed herringbone road and a tongue depressor for the corner he is peeking around.

All things said, I really like how the red came out on the cloak with the highlighting, etc.  And I had fun with the corner.  Getting the bricks in place was awful but still they look good.

Edit: Sorry about one if the images being a little fuzzy.  And I see that glossy area in the base and hit it with matte varnish.  All good now.  I wish my camera phone could handle the saturation if this red better.  It's fantastic, really!

All right!  This one didn't take as long as I thought it would - I don't know why.  Perhaps it's the fact that I really do enjoy painting the chibis.  (It's the eyes.  I love painting the eyes!)

This is Lilyana from Midknight Heroes Super Chibi line.  Obviously she's a kawaii little Succubus.  Who can resit the ky00t?  Hmmm?
Can you?
I couldn't!

I'm also playing around with watermarks, etc.  Just to see if I like it or not for Instagram, etc.
I really should just hit up the Midknight Heroes guys and go: I WANT TO BE YOUR STAFF PAINTER!  LET ME BE YOUR STAFF PAINTER!!!!!  PLZ!

I've done some more.

Midknight Heroes has come out with a skirmish game - Duel Fates.

The Rock Golem and Brin the ky00t dwarf are both part of it.

I went overboard on the base of the rock golem.  I even pulled out the weathering pigments to get some color variation in base itself.

I'll break this up a bit - Brin first.

Thank you!

It was ... not something I'm used to doing.  I was definitely pushing my abilities on this one.

But I was also enjoying using heavy body acrylics - the tube paints, not the more liquid that comes in a dropper.

But have their uses, definitely.  And I need to get better at thinning and using smoother layers.  I have a tendency to get impatient and lay things on too thick, or don't wait for them to dry enough.

Still, I'm happy with this and can't wait for my new set of paints to arrive to test those.

Rashida - Priestess of the Mystic Circle

By Big Child Creative

This is a piece, that if I had been on top of things, would have entered into a competition at a convention.

But do I think that far ahead?

Do I have that much awareness?

Of course not!

Not sure what I'll do with this one, honestly.  I am pleased with it.  But my little display case is getting full.  Gotta find a way to offload these things!

Because there will be more.

Thank you!

I realized as I was trying to sleep I think she is designed for a different style of plinth.  I'll have to fix that.

I'm wondering if the light is reflecting too brightly off the large medallions, though.

I also realized I should have a little light reflected off the bottom medallions.

And you always comment, Butchern!  I hope you are enjoying the thread.
