Name That Tune!

Mindcrime

We'll go for an easy one this time.

I was cutting the rug down at a place called The Jug
With a girl named Linda Lou
When in walked a man with a gun in his hand
And he was looking for you-know-who

He said "Hey there fellow, with the hair colored yellow, wha'choo try'n to prove?

'Cause that'sa my woman there, and I'm a man who cares

And this might be all for you."

I said "Excuse me...?"

This is one of those songs that if you're from the right era you will get immediately.

Was the dark of the moon on the sixth of June, on a Kenworth pullin' logs
Cab-over Pete with a reefer on and a Jimmy haulin' hogs
We was headin' for bear on I-one-oh, 'Bout a mile outta Shaky Town
I says, "Pig Pen, this here's the Rubber Duck and I'm about to put the hammer down."

correct

That movie and song caused there to be a run of trucker movies for a few years during the 70's in America. Weird.

Now.. Do I match that with another novelty song, or go another direction? Hmm...

Centuries of carnage
Centuries of chaos yet unfolding
A planet built on bone
Spinning in a space
Unmolded
Armies are arrayed
Like toys on tabletops it's almost funny
Bodies raped and flayed
The sea is red with blood the sky is sunny

This song is from a Heavy Metal band known for their elaborate, mature audience aimed stage shows.

Your entrails are displayed
Upon a rack we break the bones within you
Your fighters are dismayed and wonder if it is wise to continue
To resist my will
The babies that I bake fill a volcano
I'm clogging up the kill
My wretched baby paste requires Drano

The song is Immortal Corruptor by Gwar.

Next up...

There's buzzin' and ringin' in my ear
And I wonder where do I go from here
The moments missed, the tickin' of time
I suppose this life is mine, all mine
I remember a time when my mind was clean and clear.

This song is from a band that tried to continue on after their frontman left. They ran afoul of this frontman who sued his former bandmates to keep them from using their old name.

I remember the color of your eyes changed from blue to black
My fingers twist in a fist behind your back
I crumbled and I cried
I look a long hard breath and died
I don't remember what I did
I don't remember what I said
I don't remember attackin'.
If I could bend the bands of time, if I could reel it in
And in the mirror, who is that lookin' back
And I'm scared of whoever this is livin' in my skin.

That part sounds a bit like Van Halen...  or Yes...  or, well, any number of bands.

The lyrics are unknown to me.

The song was "Damage I've Done" by The Heads Feat/Jeanette  Napolitano of Concrete Blonde

Well, Metal was a bust, as was Alt Rock. How about something Bluesy?

Night

Falls and I'm alone

Skin

Yeah chilled me to the bone

You

Turned and you ran (Oh yeah)

Oh slipped

Right from my hand
