  1. The Shriek Well, "See". He's been completely blind as long as he can remember, but ever since the gap days his hearing has been so good that it compensates in some ways. His hearing was so good that he might as well have Sonar. A little click of the tongue was all it took sometimes to get a mental picture. More, in some ways. The pumping of hearts often sounded like heavy drumming right in his ears. The legend of the Shriek usually said that if it did let you see it's face you would see either empty eye sockets or eyeballs obviously stolen from a corpse and just crammed in the holes, whichever the storyteller thought was the worse of the two ideas. The truth wasn't quite so dramatic. In his "work clothes" he covered most of his face and didn't bother with eye holes in the mask. In the darkness though, he didn't blame people for getting it mixed up in the passion of the moment. He turns his head like he was trying to look at them. He doesn't quite get the angle right. "That probably bought you an hour or two to get to somewhere to hide. Go to a women's shelter for a few days. No family, no friends, he probably knows where they all are." he remarks in a normal voice. Scaring them wasn't the point of this. He rolls his neck, and "looks" back over them again. If he gets the courage to come back there's a strong chance he'll come back with guns and friends. *If*. "I'll go see if I can talk him into just staying away. Safer for everyone that way." Yeah. "Talk". OOC
  2. I mean, I am DMing a 5e game on another site and when I put up the advert I got about three times as many apps as I expected. So on a principle level I don’t want to agree with you - but Yeah. This part is rough.
  3. The Shriek You know, not much can give Sergio pause when the Shriek is out and about but this is one of them. The kid was more scared then the target was. He actually feels a little guilty about that, was he being just as guilty of treating People like they're things? The kid's been traumatized enough, let's see if he can change that. He flexes his power again, to reach for the inner demon. Sticking to dark places, maybe the guy will see him if he looks. But if just as a silhouette it would be to his advantage anyway. The Child Can Make As Much Noise As They Like Tonight, You're Not Coming Back. The sound comes out like an evil low raspy sound, like something with a deeper throat then a human one was trying to sound human for now. And it wasn't quite doing it right. This House Has Seen Enough Fear. Your Turn. You want to live to see the Sunrise? The closest Holy Ground is the Cemetary to the Southeast. Run. Run. RUN. OOC Presense Attack? How's that work? Roll 8d6 plus modifiers and hope it clears the guy's PRE or EGO score, whichever you deem more appropriate? I think I'm going to roll 8d6 + 1d6 (Violence) + 1d6 (Psychological Complication in Shriek's favor) + 1d6 (Power) + 1d6 (Siloquiy) = 12d6 to just scare the guy into running. Whether into traffic is another question.
  4. The Shriek --OOC-- OOC When I wrote that, I was thinking the audio illusion is mostly creepy whispers with no determinable source. And the lights should go out accompanied by a loud ear-splitting Shriek.
  5. The Shriek Somewhere there's a Radio on, he only catches a few minutes as it drives by but he doesn't need to hear more. It's not important, just amusing. 98.1 - Red Hot Radio You're listening to Rowdy Randy and Martini in the Evening on 98.9, Red Hot Radio. Bringing the Heat to SC's Scene. So believe it or not, Martini babe, I do think I owe someone an apology. Oh really? Who exactly? That nutjob we've been hearing on the news, the Shriek. Alright, I'm listening - explain. You don't think they're a Demon? Nope, just some nut with a taste for theatrics. But the police seem to have known for a while that all of the Shriek's hits have had something in common, they all abuse kids. My sources are telling me that we're about to hear that one of the latest victims worked for city hall too. Shriek, if you hear this, I still say you're a friggin' loon but you make way more sense. After you get caught and get the help you obviously need, your first beer is on me when they let you drink alcohol. Martini, want to give the token liberal line about peace and love? ...Nope. <El Chillado>, I once saw my brother-in-law put out a cigarette on my niece's shoulder. [Beep] you, Fernando. Oh, nice! Unexpected Boner! Boooinnnggg! An old scar checks in, one he can keep under clothes. He had a foster parent that used to do that to him too. He heard the talk, people always asked what was it about the Shriek and kids. Everyone was overthinking it, really. It was actually glorifyingly simple. Sergio wasn't doing things like this out of a sense of Justice or Harmony or anything like that or some Psycho-Sick Fixation on Innocence to Avenge his own Crappy Childhood or anything like that. It really just came down to that few things pissed Sergio off more then treating a Person like they were just a Thing, and kids often got the worst of that kind of thinking. As for the Demon part, well - that was because as a Creative Sergio was well aware that there were few things in this world as powerful as a Narrative. He didn't even come up with most of it. His first target was a pedo-priest so of course he "became" a Demon. Things just kept evolving from there, all Sergio did was not disprove anything unless he had too. He could only guess the phases of the moon and sometimes he guessed wrong, but that ended up just adding too it. A noctural predator that hunts in darkness, using the eyes of the dead. He knew some Metalheads that would kill for publicity like that. Now, he keeps to the shadows the best he can. How did that little rhyme the kids came up with go? Let's open up with a little Terror. There was a story in Soverign City of something spawned in the worst corners of it. Of a Demonic Predator that stalks in darkness, uses the eyes of the dead, and let's out bloodcurdling shrieks. Funny, the Bogeyman doesn't normally work in Reverse though. === Run and Run And Watch Your Back ~~~Something's Coming From the Black Try To Scream, Hear Him Come ~~~Your Precious Time Is Almost Done You Try To Hide But Hear His Shriek ~~~Your Teeth Chatter, Your Knees Go Weak Under Dirt and Under Stone ~~~He'll Take His Last Breath All Alone ~~~He'll Take His Last Breath All Alone ~~~You'll Take Your Last Breath All Alone === A moment to listen for some variation of 'What the Flying Hell was That?' from the POS that calls himself a Step-Dad, then he follows up with an Ear-Splitting SHRIEK. OOC Opening with an Audio Illusion, then the Change Environment. Not sure how the actions line up but seems cool to stop here. :P
  6. No rush, I kind of figured you just got busy. Off-line life happens.
  7. Did someone mention Type O Negative? Because I think I heard someone mention Type O Negative.
  8. Tried a quick update. As you might have guessed, the original idea was to go Eldritch Trickster but it occured to me that going Thief and banking into magic with the build would probably fit the better. I'm thinking a bit of Minor Magic, maybe a Sorcerer Dedication. Something like that. I also admit I like the idea that Boz is a full-on member of a Thieve's Guild as you see, but I don't know enough about the setting to pick one. Anywho, while I can't quite answer question 6 the way you want I do think I can still help you out a bit by dropping any special notes that come up when I look at the other characters. Nico - KITTY! Enoch Hawkmoor - I always have a weakness for the Paladin / Rogue dynamic. Yes, he's not literially a Paladin but clearly he's going for that vibe. Minerva - Let me just say I love the look. Also love the Witch more general vibe/approach to magic and going a bit dark is a great touch. And I admit, like the idea of having a magical mentor for Boz in a hypothetical party. Mira doesn't seem done, but I always chuckle at "I'm the Cook". Maggie and Bubble - Alright, the leaning into the Theater and Performance bit totally saves this idea for me. Razig is not messing around, respect. Like how this pulls in more of the setting too. Sareem feels like they could use more meat on the bone so to speak, but I like what I see. Again, the mentor angle comes up. Kiptani - Always had a weakness for Kobald Bards, lol.
  9. Ah, thought it was one of those "the first one is free" things. Thank you for looking out for me, still newbing as you can see. So I absolutely have to work up 3 points, and if I can get 2 more on top of that I can add another slot to that multipower for a better Presense attack that throws 8d6 instead of 4d6. So I really want to get 5 points. That sound right? I'll see what I can do. Shouldn't be too bad.
  10. I warned y’all. Boz is up. Woot!
  11. 1. What is your experience with Pathfinder 2e? Answer Some. Not enough to DM but I've tried to throw a Kobald Bard around and got to play them. Not well, but it was there. 2. What is your experience with PbP? Answer Been playing TTRPGs since the early 2000's and started with PbPs not long after. I'm pretty new to this particular site, but I've been around. 3. What is your Role-playing Experience (overall, PbP and otherwise)? And, what makes a game "good"? Answer As mentioned, been doing TTRPGs since the early 2000s and started PbP not long after. What makes a game good? This is going sound almost trite but just remembering that everyone's there to have fun. I've had some spectaculrly bad DMs over the years and it's usually just some variation of forgetting that. [Though the DMPCs I've seen over the years would not help. 4. Please link me a couple examples of your Roleplaying here at the Weave (preferred). If no examples, be sure to post an "RP" in the open RP thread (when I get one up) I'd like to see a sample of your game-style writing. Answer Site actually went down as I went to get samples but off the top of my head - VtM - Warl0ck - "Lisa" was the daughter of an NKVD colonel and if the USSR hadn't collapsed she probably would at this point be the head of a cyberwarfare division. Then again, she'd probably also have a pulse. One of the first big Hackers on the then fledgling Internet, her Sire was one of the first to recognize the potential usefulness of the new technology to the Camirilla and "Lisa" was embraced a Nosferatu. Viewing herself as an intellectual equal of any Prince, she has plans to establish herself as a Prince of Cyberspace. With the dissambly of ShreckNet v2.0 her plans have been set back but she thinks she v3.0 is inevitable and she's going to be there to create something beautiful - that will make herself very powerful in the process. Star Trek Adventures - Commander Bass "The Bass-Thich" Th'ichallaq as a battle-hardened Andorian who infamously has in his medical file orders that doctors are to do nothing about scars he might acquire over the course of his duties, especially if the event also resulted in the death of someone under his command. He calls it the Poetry of a Soldier. A survivor of the failed Amaria Colony, at one point he had to decide whether to let a local predator eat his younger sister or all the fingers on his right hand. The fingers there now are biosynthetic, his sister now teaches wilderness survival courses on Andoria's Laiken Military Academy, and he learned a lesson about making the hard choices and accepting the consequences. Considered shockingly ruthless and pragmatic by Starfleet standards, it's a common mistake by those under his command to think he doesn't believe in the ideals of the Federation. If anything, the opposite. He wants them to be true more than anything - but he also knows that the Universe is a cold place and that Ideals are something that are only true as far as you're willing to fight for them. 5. Tell me about a couple of your favorite characters you've actually played (in PBP or even in TT) and why you enjoyed those characters so much. Answer Well, going off site - I noticed a while back I tend to lean into Paladin or Rogue archetypes. lol Mutants and Masterminds - "Vox" - On paper he's a reformed Anarchist-Terrorist Supervillain. Really he's only "reformed" in the sense that he recognizes that his old tactics weren't really working at spreading his ideals, and on a particularly bad day accidentally got an innocent bystander killed. Seeking a better way and a measure of self-forgiveness, he volunteered to help provide his previous enemies technical assistance with his inventions and eventually got a pardon and was promoted to full team status when he was instrumental in stopping an attempted Fascist takeover the US. Now he fights to make the world a better place, even if he has to work with these well-meaning tools of the state to do it. Vox is a compelling character that just has to fight with everybody, and is deeply diametrically opposed with even his own teammates save for one very important thing. He's someone who obviously just wants to help and do the right thing, just don't be surprised if you strongly disagree with how the best form of that help should come. Even with himself as he blames himself for the death of an innocent too the point that he was suicidal for a while, an slowly he's trying to be a better person and is making progress little by little. Plus part of his background was that he was mute from a childhood bout with throat cancer, adding extra challenges with communication. Also, Battlesuits are cool, lol. DnD 5e - "Captain" Enzo Park - According to the hype-men of the Gladitorial Arenas he was forced to fight in, Captain Enzo Park has the record of being the youngest ever Captain in the Ikkarian Royal Navy and he got to his title from being a tactical and military genius. The only reason they managed to capture him at all was because he was betrayed by his fellow officers, and now he fights for your entertainment. Except that's pretty much all a lie. Lt. Enzo Park was serving on the Ikkarian Vessel "The Queen's Ascendence" when they were ambused by 4 Kimorian Slaver Ships. They fought valiently, but obviously they lost when they had 4 to 1 odds. The surviving crew captured and sold to Kimoria's main gladitorial arena, Lt. Park is the highest ranking surviving officer so by Ikkarian tradition he is the acting Captain for now but that's as close as it is to true. Though his sense of tactics and strategy is considered pretty good *for a gladiator*, but Genius? That's just the hype-men selling tickets. But make no mistake, he will do whatever it takes to get the rest of his crew Home. Enzo is an Idealist in one of the world's ugliest places, the slave pits of an arena. Sort of a Non-Paladin Paladin who holds ideals of Honor and Duty above all else. He will keep his fellow gladiators alive if he can, he will get his crew home, or he will die trying. He is determined to make it that simlpe. I liked the clash of what he feels versus what is right in front of him. 6. Name (do not use the "mention" function) one or more players 'applying' for this game ("Shadows of the City") whom you would like to be accepted Answer Sorry, too new to this site to really be able to make that call.
