  1. Gonna try to throw up some more background today, if I don't end up napping all afternoon. (Old guys and 6 day workweeks aren't a fun combo). Most of it is in my head, but getting it committed to electrons always seems to come with "Nah, that doesn't work, let's try this instead," so typing it up takes MUCH longer than it should. Hadn't really planned on a Chinatown. There might BE such an area, but since most of his family is pretty thoroughly Americanized, they wouldn't live there. Grandfather Wong might and would certainly have connections there, but he'd want to be close to his daughter and grandchild. I was originally thinking of putting them near the Havens but if Chinatown is a thing and located in the Estuary, it occurs to me that Emmy Mours is the perfect place for an Uber driver to find fares and so they are now located in West Sovereign, definitely out of Chinatown but close enough to easily visit. That means that yes, the Chinese gangs are part of his life. Possibly a few clashes with gangs out of Draydon Flats too, he would NOT like the Rebel Slavers one bit and even if they would prefer other targets, I suspect the feeling would be mutual. Great Grandpa Wong: You pretty much figured out what I had in mind, he was punishing white criminals and racists preying on Chinese residents. He got a little too visible and ended up changing coasts, he kept a lower profile in Sovereign City, aided in part by the fact that the Chinese community was much smaller and attracted less trouble. Grandpa Wong did a bit of vigilante work himself in the late 60's, early 70's but stopped after his daughter was born (that said event also coincided with a general decline in street violence for a time may or may not have been a coincidence). Grandpa did briefly use the name Iron Tiger, so technically Jonny is the second Iron Tiger in Sovereign City, though very few people would remember that.
  2. I'm on multiple times a day most days, but it would be rare for me to make multiple posts to the same game. Generally, I assume about half of my games will need a post each day for an average of a post every other day in any given game. Of course, some games are slower, so a few can be faster.
  3. AC: 28 HP: 101/101 Focus: 2/2 Hero Points: 2 Perception: +12 Condition: Shield: Hardness 10 HP: 96/96 (48) Battle Medicine: "Huh, must have been on soft dirt. Came down easy." Boradur gathers up his weapons, ready to defend himself, but by the time he has them, there is nobody to fight. "Right, no sense in chasing them down, especially in territory they know and we don't." Mechanics Hand 1: Hammer Hand 2: Shield Action 1: Grab hammer Action 2: And shield
  4. Zyrel (Ekujae Rogue) AC: 21 | HP: 34/34 | Perception: +10 (Initiative +2) | F: 5 R: 12 W: 10 | Conditions: none| Class DC: 20| Spell DC: 19 | Zyrel fires futilely, then dives forwards as the statue takes a mighty swing that would have left him badly wounded, if it connected. Fortunately, he dives under the savage strike and continues, rolling to his feet and darting towards the nearby brush. He eyes the statue, noting it's excellent armor and ready shield, he decides it might be rather hard to hit and instead calls down a rain of magical stone. "Lets see how well you dodge." Mechanics Main Hand: Bow Off Hand: Empty Reaction: Nimble Dodge +2 AC (whew) Action 1: Stride: Half speed or less, denies Attack of Opportunity Action 2 & 3: Scatter Scree. 5. Still mulling over some background stuff and his current situation. Any suggested tweaks or questions about the stats?
  6. To be fair, I mostly stuck with boardgaming or card tournaments at cons. Roleplaying with strangers is a bit weird (though there was the one con where we did a very dark messed up Scooby Doo vs Cthulhu game that was a blast and Midnight Paranoia at Marcon was usually fun).
  7. Jonny (Iron Tiger) is based firmly in East Haven and rarely operates outside the Havens. Of course, if he just happens to be somewhere else when he sees something going on, he's not going to worry too much about location and his job as an Uber driver does get him around the city a fair bit. His family lives in a not so bad neighborhood on the border of East Haven and Brookhaven, he, on the other hand, shares a house a few miles west with a bunch of 20 somethings in the sort of neighborhood where at least one house on every block is boarded up and condemned and at least one other probably should be.
  8. There used to be a number of smaller local cons in our area back in the 80's-90's and I've got some stories from those, but not good ones for the most part. Though I do have a friend that I mostly only ever saw at conventions (I'm about 90% sure we met in the used game booth looking at wargames and if it wasn't there, I have no clue anymore). Sadly, aside from Cabin Con, the local convention scene is now pretty much one media and gaming con in the fall and a couple of comic conventions.
  9. Yup. Figured there was a decent chance we had some Boingo fans here.
  10. I could hear the line the first time I read it, but needed to sing it three or four times before I could recall what came next and ID the song. Anyhow... Did ya hear about Fred? He's unemployed They threw him away like a useless toy He went down the drain after 20 long years No warning, no pension, and nobody's tears
  11. AC: 28 HP: 101/101 Focus: 2/2 Hero Points: 2 Perception: +12 Condition: Shield: Hardness 10 HP: 96/96 (48) Battle Medicine: Boradur eyes the oncoming fey, but it doesn't appear they are close enough for an effective rush by either party, so he sets his weapon aside and grabs the rope as Cirmaran clearly intends to fix his knot. He waits for the moment the rogue calls out, then braces and pulls. Mechanics Hand 1: Rope Hand 2: Rope Action 1: Set aside weapons Action 2&3: Ready to pull on command
  12. Jonny's family lives somewhere around the border of East Haven and Brookhaven in one of those neighborhoods that keeps cycling between quiet cheap blue collar housing and even cheaper gang territory.
  13. Yup, OH. Pretty much the only thing significant I do all year, though I used to do Origins now and then and would like to get back to that someday.
  14. Not next week but the one after, I'll be at the slightly infamous Cabin Con for the weekend, four days of boardgames, limited sleep and only phone internet. Shouldn't really interfere with this game too much, but just in case.
