  1. Several hungry and cold hours later, the caravaners rode back into town, dragging their undead treasure behind them. It was a sight to see, and several of the townies braved the cold and the snow to see it. They rode up to the inn. It stood tall, just off the road to the east, and the warm light from its windows was visible through the now-lightly-blowing snow. The two-story structure boasted stout timber timber walls and thick glass windows, both of which were frosted with a layer of white. The smell of bred and stew filled the street. Tore stood on the porch and bellowed, "What . . . is that?"
  2. With a little help, Gert pulled the remains of the carcass onto the platform. When all the caravaners were aboard, they cranked the platform up into the cave and then back to the surface. On the surface the light was growing dim. It was afternoon and more snow clouds had moved in. It was snowing heavily. Assuming they could retrace their steps, the would be back in town by sundown even if they took the time to rig up a sled for their newfound trophy.
  3. Most of the fight was out of the undead rabbit as it turned what was left of its antlers on Seresse. The creature lunged at the elf, trying to impale her and drive her over the edge into the darkness.
  4. So, if I followed everything correctly . . . Seresse attacks with +2 and spends a Fate Point to get to +4. That's 1 shift of damage which is resolved by marking off the 2-point Consequence. , you get to name that Consequence. Any ideas? Celeg attacks with +1 and tags the free invoke on Flaming Wound to get to +3 (a tie) and tags the free invoke on [Insert Name Here], Seresse's new Consequence, to get to +5. That's 2 shifts of damage which is resolved by marking off the 4-point Consequence. , you get naming rights for this one. Is that correct?
  5. Wendell Berry is amazing. Every word is a delight. Halfway through A Place on Earth and paused to read some of his poetry. Beautiful stuff.
  6. The final undead rabbit turned all its antlered fury on the nearest caravaner, Celeg.
  7. Attack on Celeg. And I'm going to spend my last Fate Point to get that to +6.
  8. The caravaners were having some success against the undead rabbits, so Aron took the opportunity to leap onto the platform. He put his burly hands on top of Gert's and began to help her turn the handle of the wench. The platform lurched and swung freely from its mooring but began to rise quickly now.
  9. Watched the first episode of Fallout--aggressively not for me. I think if the action was better, I'd probably like it a little more. They are definitely playing it safe in every possible way. But I'm thrilled that the Fallout Fans are generally liking it. Thanks to this thread, I have just added Shogun to our watch list. We'll probably wait until it is all available for watching before starting though. We also tried the first three episodes of Invincible (season 2). It's pretty good, but nothing special. My girls and I read through the first half-dozen trades long ago, so we aren't watching Invincible to see what happens anymore. To me, there isn't much reason for it to exist otherwise. But if you haven't read Invincible and like supers cartoons, you might like it. I'm told that the season ends in the middle of the story arc without much resolution to anything, so be ready for that if that sort of thing frustrates you. Disappearance at Clifton Hill is a pretty good neo-noir film. The ultimate resolution is not nearly as interesting as the middle part of the film, but we really enjoyed the journey getting there. The Banshees of Inisherin is excellent. One of my favs so far this year. And Men was pretty good as well, if you like that sort of thing. We missed it in the theaters, so we are eagerly awaiting a chance to rent/buy The Boy and the Heron. I have only seen the Muppet Christmas Carol and, boy, have I seen it. We watch it every year. It is so good. :D I should watch the rest of them. Looks like a bunch are on Disney+. We may grab that service again over the summer to watch them.
  10. Gert and Seresse made it up to the platform first with Aron and Celeg hot on their heals. Just not quite hot enough. Out of the darkness of the mine, two giant undead rabbits barreled down onto the escaping caravaners. Their mold covered antlers, as hard as bone, gleamed in the failing sunlight. The creatures crashed headlong into Aron and Celeg as the pair of sturdy warriors prepared to hold off the creatures while Gert and Seresse got the platform up in the air and out of reach. Disengaging from combat would be difficult with those giant antlers at their throats, but getting up on the platform as it ascended would be easy for the athletic pair.
  11. Okay you are hit with a +6 charge attack. you are hit with a +7 charge attack. Defend with Fight or Athletics. The two rabbits will use one set of stress boxes. After you roll, you can post and include the result in your post. Just keep in mind: Giant Undead Rabbits and Moldy Antlers, Hard as Bone as you post. and , it will take four actions from you (no need to roll) to get the platform out of the reach of the undead rabbits. Will use a check box to track it (on the Fate Tracking Thread). If you take actions to help in the fight, you cannot take actions that turn to get the platform up in the air. Up to you how to spend your time.
  12. Seresse and Gert take the lead and reach the platform, ready to start cranking themselves back up out of the mine. Charge Attack by two undead rabbits vs. Celeg and Aron.
  13. With Gert in the lead, the caravaners began the long trek out of the mine. They moved as quickly as they could in the dark, confident that as long as they were going up, they were going in the right direction. They could hear noises behind them, deeper in the mine, and they knew the creatures were in pursuit, but it was difficult to know how close they were. Out of breath and tired, the caravaners climbed the last set of steps to reach the top level. By the light from above, they could see the exit platform, a wooden frame that had been built on top of a raised stone floor, surrounded all around by mining debris. It was much colder here up near the surface.
  14. The carcass of the rabbit stank and sloshed as Seresse sent it sagging over the edge into the darkness. The scrabbling sounds of what was almost certainly more undead monstrosities climbing the walls grew louder.
  15. The beast was battered and gory when Seresse put the sword to it. Whatever dark energy that animated the rotten flesh fled from its wounds, and the once-living remains collapsed into a heap on the edge of the ledge. In the science that immediately followed, the caravaners heard more scraping noises from the darkness below. It was the sound of more rocks and dirt falling, the sound of something scrambling over stone. More undead . . . somethings . . . were climbing the walls of the pit toward them.
  16. , sorry! I wasn't paying attention and added my dice roll to your post rather than mine. :D The good news is I rolled a +0. If you spend a Fate Point to get that to 8 shifts of damage, then you can take the rabbit out.
  17. Olive didn't really do guile. She could do confrontation though. She's keep her mouth shut until it came to that. Hopefully she could just get paid and leave.
  18. Black ichor poured from the knife wound. The gore matted in the rotting fur and oozed into the creature's eyes. The beast shook it head and lumbered forward onto the ledge, putting itself between Celeg and Gert on the one side and Aron and Seresse on the other. If Celeg and Gert decided to flee, they would have to go through the undead rabbit. As if on cue, a horrible gasping howl echoed up from the pit. Something else was down there.
  19. Rabbit defends vs. Seresse. That's a two-stress hit on the rabbit. Fate Tracking thread updated. Rabbit attacks Celeg as promised.
